The workshop addresses students and teachers in the fields of architecture, interior, urban and landscape planning. The aim of the workshop is to investigate and develop conversion possibilities for the Caserma Druso, which is acutely threatened with demolition. The projects developed are to provide approaches to solutions and promote a new discussion on the preservation of the facility. The focus is on the urban development of the 4-hectare site with its buildings and open spaces, the conversion of existing buildings and the handling of partially destroyed building structures. Central criteria are the principles of sustainable development (energy conservation, locally available resources and materials, reuse of existing structural elements), reduced costs and upmost flexibility.
Venue: The workshop will take place on site at the Caserma Druso. Caserma Druso, 39028 Silandro, Alto Adige, Italy.
